Air Canada add new routes and service from Montreal and Toronto for the winter season

June 16, 2016-San Juan, Puerto Rico – The Executive Director of the Puerto Rico Tourism Company (PRTC), Ingrid I. Rivera Rocafort, and Alex Pittman, Director of Sales for Latin America & the Caribbean at Air Canada announced the inauguration of a new Air Canada route connecting the cities of Montreal and San Juan. The flight option will be available Saturdays starting on Dec. 17, 2016.

Medical Tourism in Porta del Sol

The Puerto Rico Tourism Company (PRTC) and Puerto Rico’s Medical Tourism Corporation (CTM) joined forces to host an event to provide information and trainings to various medical service providers in the Porta de Sol region. The event took place in the Medical Center in Mayagüez and is the first event to shed light on medical tourism in this region. CTM’s three main objectives include presenting the island as a destination for medical tourism, raising quality medical standards and services, and establishing the Concierge Center, which will strengthen and compliment services provided to patients from abroad, explained Francisco G. Bonet Rivera, Executive Director of CTM. CTM has 54 certified health care provides which include hospitals and dentists, this places Puerto Rico, outside of the U.S. jurisdiction, with more certified providers under the Medical Tourism Association (MTA) in the Caribbean and Latina America.

The World's Largest Cruise Ship Arrives in Puerto Rico

The arrival of the world’s largest cruise ship, Oasis of the Seas, projects an economic impact of $2.3 million

Governor Alejandro García Padilla announced the arrival of Oasis of the Seas, the world’s largest cruise ship, at the San Juan port. Oasis of the Seas accommodates 6,360 passengers and 2,394 crew members, and has scheduled six visits to the country this year, estimating a $2.3 million impact on the Puerto Rican economy. The governor also announced the early arrival of two additional cruise ships that will place Puerto Rico at the forefront of the Caribbean and global tourism industry. Allure of the Seas is scheduled to arrive to the Island in the early summer of 2016. Harmony of the Seas, scheduled to arrive in late 2016, will become the largest ship once it sails with a capacity to carry 6,780 passengers and 2,300 crew members.
